i recently cut my hair short into a cute bob similar to rhiannas but i want my hair to be more textured in the back ...does anyone know any websites that show you how to cut it? i want to try to do it myself first before i go in and get it done. i don't have those "razor cut" scissors but i have hair scissors and thinning scissors.
How do i cut my own hair into a bob and make it look professionally done?
OK pay attention.
Take your hair ans separate it into four quarter sections (+) like so.
Take each section and twist.
Using hair cutting shears.....not regular scissors (they damage hair). Cut at an even length.
Repeat for each section.
it Will be a little choppy but it should be even!!1

Go to a professional, especially if you're considering going that short. You'll only regret it if you do it yourself.

There's no way you can texture your hair in the back, yourself. You need a pro to do it for you, so let her. Ask her to check your haircut to see if it needs to be balanced. (the Bob)

If youwant it done right, go to a professional. Otherwise good luck growing it back.

Your best bet is to at least get a friend to help you, every thing is backwards in a mirrior. I am a registered cosmetologist and I enlist my hubby or daughter to help me. The texture you are looking for can be achived by holding vertical sections in the back and LIGHTLY going over them with the razor. The sharper the razor the better the effect and it should not pull your hair, if it does your razor is dull. You are better off not trying this with scissors.

You cannot....Many stylists can't cut a good one. I was lucky enough to learn from the pro's on how to do it right. I can tell you from experience that cutting your hair is best left to anyone but yourself and yes it applies to me as well.....
The trick of what your looking for rests in the last step of the cut. I always ask. This only applies to those who have already had their hair cut....
Have a stylist help you, maybe bring in this answer, as I find often that people really know what they want they simplly articulate it .The classic bob cut is achieved by making each layer slightly longer than the other, using an undercut wish scissors.
What you want is the variation....If you have a bob, when its wet and combed, pull each layer of hair out using the beginning layers as a guide. The first row at the bottom of you hair should start more at an angle like \ By the time your nearing the top your will end up almost straight out.....
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WHAT I DESCRIBED ABOVE IS A MAXIMUM AND BY REDUCING THE ANGLE DOWN GIVES LESS DRAMA.....
Its' far too easy to cut too much, its better to do it in downward sections....I do suggest a stylist do this as its your hair and you want it to look good, maybe back to stylist who did this and understands angles . A 45 degree angle may be enough or drastic would be a total degree angle. You can always cut more, you just can't glue it back, Good luck
I use straight razors mainly on blondes simply because it hides the old tell tale cut marks, but only at the very end....
I also use razors to texturize, (I think you were asking this becase you may not have enough layers for body....
Grey hair and dark thick hair that requires taking out a substantial amount, and I always use it as a finishing touch.....Good Luck
